volleyball team ends the season
with a 24-11 record. The Lions
were able to advance to the
championship match of the Gulf
South Conference tournament
before falling to West Florida
without receiving the league’s
automatic bid. |

Officials with the Gulf South
Conference named North Alabama
center Thomas Fraise as the East
Division’s Player of the Week on
Wednesday. The 300-pound center
from New Orleans picked up the
award for the fourth time in his
career, leading the Lions to a
2-0 start to the 2008-09 season. |

senior golfer Wes Smith of
Killen has been honored as an
All- America Scholar by
Cleveland Golf and the Golf
Coaches Association of America.
A Business Management major,
Smith has a cumulative 3.56
grade point average and was
previously selected Academic
All-Gulf South Conference. |
