Profile and Location

In 1830 a tradition of quality education for men and women began in Florence, Alabama, and continues today. The University of North Alabama is a comprehensive regional state university, offering undergraduates and graduate degrees, and serving both residential and community students. UNA is located between Nashville, Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama. The beautiful campus of over 100 acres is in a residential section of Florence, located just north of the Tennessee River. Florence is one of four cities in the Shoals area, which has a collective population of 137,000 and is home of the world-famous Muscle Shoals recording industry. Known for its beautiful Tennessee river lakes, the area is a home of several tourist attractions, including the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and the birthplaces of Helen Keller and blues great W.C. Handy.
