Welcome to my website at The University of North Alabama's Department of Sociology.

To this day, I am still impressed with the overall utility of Sociology as I continue to see how its basic concepts, assumptions and applications help bring understanding to the problems and prospects of society.  Sociologists challenge the taken-for-granted assumptions we make about ourselves and look below the surface of our social groups and society to see what and who we are and explain why we do what we do.  All our scientific endeavors stem from the domain assumption that our behaviors are largely shaped by factors external to us such as the elements of culture and social structure.

My website will direct you to a large amount of "stuff" on external sites that will develop as well as enhance your "sociological imagination".  I also provide links to what I think are some essential web resources.  If you want to start learning about Sociology and how Sociologists think,  you'll certainly want to click on the first two links under "Basic Stuff".
