Alternative Testing Procedures

Students who are qualified to utilize alternative testing accommodations (extended time, distraction-free environment, or use of reader, writer, or CCTV) may do so by following these procedures:

  1. The student must submit qualified documentation indicating a diagnosis of a disability, as well as, supporting need for alternative testing accommodations.
  2. The Accommodation Form is formulated indicating the need for alternative testing accommodations.
  3. Accommodation Forms are copied and the student takes them to each of their classes to begin the accommodation process.
  4. The student completes a Test Request Form and submits it to the faculty/staff for completion.
  5. The student brings the Test Request Form to Developmental Services at least 2 business days before the test for scheduling purposes.
  6. Developmental Services staff records test on testing calendar and schedules testing room.
  7. Developmental Services staff receives test from faculty/staff.
  8. The student comes to Developmental Services on the designated test date and is escorted to the testing room. The student is required to leave their book bag, cell phone, notebooks, textbooks, jackets, and other suspicious items in the Developmental Services office. A Test Tracking Record is completed before the test begins.
  9. The student is monitored visually throughout the test. If suspicious behavior is noted, Developmental Services will complete a Testing Irregularity Form for faculty/staff to review.

  10. The student returns the test upon completion to Developmental Services. The Test Tracking Record is completed and the test is confidentially sealed by Developmental Services staff. The test is returned as soon as possible to the respective faculty/staff member.
