University of North Alabama Writers Series
Please join us for readings from our featured writer, Lewis ('Buddy') Nordan,
in Banquet Hall A of the Guillot University Center at 7:30 pm Monday, April 4th & 11:00 am Tuesday, April 5th. (Reception and book signing to follow the Monday night performance)
Mr. Nordan was born in Itta Bena, Mississippi. He received his B.A. from Millsaps College, his M.A. from Mississippi State University and his Ph.D. from Auburn University. His publications include numerous short stories in magazines, as well as seven books of fiction (three short story collections, four novels, and a recent memoir, Boy with Loaded Gun). The novel Wolf Whistle, a fictionalized version of the Emmett Till murder, has won many prizes, including the Southern Book Critics Circle Award prize for fiction. The novel Lightning Song won the Hillsdale Prize of the Association of Southern Writers. His other books include Music of the Swamp, The Sharpshooter Blues, and Sugar Among the Freaks.
