CARTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO PROJECT

The "Portfolio Project" for Cartography is designed to allow you to examine the progression of your work throughout the semester and to learn from it.  In addition, the portfolio will allow you to document the basics of good map design.

Your follow must include the following items:
   

All computer maps - the original graded map and a corrected version

75 points

Two Examples of "good" maps
Two Examples of "poor" maps
Explanation of why each is classified as such

40 points

2-3 page paper on the basics of map design including the results of the map design comparison exercise (Exercise 8)

50 points

Comprehensive list of cartographic name placement rules from the Imhof article

35 points

The Portfolio is due on May 2.  The portfolio is 15% of your overall grade.
