Projects for the 1997-98 School Year
Adoption of McBride Middle School
One of the purposes of Gamma Theta Upsilon is to advance the professional status of Geography as a cultural and practical subject for study and investigation. The GTU chapter at the University of North Alabama would like to serve this purpose by adopting McBride Middle School in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with emphasis on the fifth grade. The project has been developed so that it is educational for both institutions involved.
The following items have been proposed as objectives for this joint project:
The GTU officers, members, and advisors approved the above objectives for one experimental school year (ending May of 1998). They have agreed to volunteer their time and efforts to ensure that the objectives are met to the best of their abilities.
These objectives should help the GTU serve its purpose while introducing new technologies regarding geography to the students and faculty of McBride Middle School. This is the first undertaking of its kind for the University's Geography Department and hopefully will be a successful one. If all objectives are met, both educational institutions will benefit. The GTU members and the University's Geography Department are eager to ensure the prosperity of the project.
