Natural gas is usually found when an oil well is drilled because the gas floats to the surface. This is referred to as casing-head gas. Although, some wells only bring up natural gas.
Natural gas produces hydrocarbons such as butane and propane. These are liquids called bottled gas. Propane and butane are usually stored in tanks of various sizes and used for fuel in cooking and heating, especially in remote areas where centralized gas supplies aren't available.
The gas that is left after the propane and butane are gone is called dry gas. Dry gas is piped to homes and business to use as fuel for heat, cooking, or running machinery.
Dry gas is also used to make plastics, dyes, and pharmaceutical drugs.
