The Office of Human Resources and Affirmative Action supports the University by developing and maintaining competent programs to meet the needs of the University community in reaching goals and objectives as they pertain to personnel management and human resource administration.

The primary responsibilities include employment activities, record maintenance, and information dissemination. Specifically, the Office of Human Resources and Affirmative Action:

  • maintains a human resources program for the University by drafting, publishing an updating human resources policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all University policies and applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • administers the human resources program and directing its administrative and technical activities by coordinating overall policies, procedures and programs in the human resources area;
  • serves as the University’s human resources specialists and technical expert by encouraging leadership in the development of effective personnel administration practices, acting as advisor to the administration, assisting supervisors with human resources matters, keeping informed on applicable laws and monitoring the University’s compliance with the laws, and, researching human resources practices and techniques, and;
  • implements and administers the University’s human resources program by recruiting applicants to fill faculty and staff requirements, maintaining the University’s staff and service employees’ position and classification system and pay structure, administering the University’s benefit programs, maintaining human resources files, coordinating the performance evaluation system, and administering the University Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Actions Programs.
  • develops the full potential of University employees by promoting a program of continuing education through the use of the remission of course hour fees for full and part-time employees.

The Office of Human Resources and Affirmative Action is located in Room 222, Bibb Graves Hall
