Summer Reading Requirements

 

 

          Daily reading time is recommended to maintain or increase reading skills.  Three books should be read during the summer months before students enter Kilby Fourth Grade.  The books may be read in any order.  Activities and discussions of these books will be used during the first weeks of school in August.  Please complete the following books:

 

1.     Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective by Donald J. Sobol

2.     A biography of your choice

 

3.     A paperback book selected by Mrs. Summy will be included in your summer packet.  This book will be provided by Kilby Laboratory School and is to be returned to Kilby on the first day of fourth grade.  If not returned, the student will be charged replacement cost.

As each book is finished, a short report is to be written to summarize the story.  Use the three sheets provided in your summer packet for these reports.  Return all three reports to Mrs. Summy on the first day of fourth grade.
