Commercial Music

The commercial music program at the University of North Alabama (UNA) was established in the fall of 1975 and is one of the oldest music industry degrees in the U.S. UNA has an enviable track record of producing alumni who have risen to the top of their fields as leading publishers, record producers, hit songwriters, musicians, performers, engineers and music industry executives. The Entertainment Industry Center (EIC) is part of the UNA College of Arts and Sciences. The Center is a service-learning center for the Department of Music, the Department of Communications and Theatre, and the Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business.

Mission Statement

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Commercial Music at the University of North Alabama are conceived within the context of a liberal arts program, so that its graduates may have both breadth and professional qualifications with the diversity of skills needed to sustain a long-term career. The program seeks to prepare students for positions in all areas of the multi-billion dollar music and entertainment industries. A primary goal is for students to develop artistic sensibilities as well as business and technical skills through a fully integrated curriculum.
