Text Box: The Leading Edge Institute is a unique leadership development process for young women across the state of Alabama. It is an interactive, educational process that brings together college women to provide them with leadership skill development, expose them to critical issues facing Alabama, and connect them with experienced leaders. More than 30 leaders--from corporate executives and scholars to community activists and political officials--volunteer to serve as faculty and Text Box: mentors. Each year a class of 35-40 selected young women participate in Leading Edge. Four-year colleges are invited to participate by selecting students and a faculty advisor. Individuals may apply for a limited number of at-large spaces in the class. The Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost and the Vice President for Student Affairs have made it possible for UNA to sponsor three female students the last four years. Text Box: Leading Edge Institute Class VIII Text Box: Changing the World with Alabama LeaderShape Text Box: The 5th Annual Alabama LeaderShape Institute will be held May 31– June 5, 2007 at Camp Sumatanga in Gallant, AL. The Alabama LeaderShape Institute is a program done in conjunction with Leadershape, Inc. to provide rigorous leadership training to Text Box: college students. UNA sponsored one student, Ashley White, to attend the 2006 Alabama LeaderShape. This year you could be that student who is chosen to attend this wonderful program.
