Theatre Scholarships

The UNA Theatre program offers a variety of scholarships to incoming students as well as sophomores, juniors and seniors enrolled in the program. Incoming students are auditioned through the UNA Theatre Scholarship Interview Day in February and, when possible, at the ACT State Screening Auditions at the State Trumbauer Festival. Requirements vary by individual scholarship.
Theatre Scholarships are only awarded to
those majoring in Theatre.
Gladys Shepard Endowed Scholarship is for incoming freshmen who are declared first as Communication Arts-Theatre majors. Students must have an ACT composite score of at least 20 and a high school GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale. An audition/ interview is required. |
The Hand and Lindsey scholarship are awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors who are declared first as Communication Arts-Theatre major. Recipients must be enrolled full-time and have a 2.5 GPA. Recipients are also selected based on their contributions to the theatre program in class, as well as on-and off-stage. |
The Mosier Scholarship is awarded to a junior who will be a senior at UNA prior to attending graduate school in Theatre Arts. Recipients are also selected based on their contributions to the theatre program in class, as well as on-and off-stage. |
UNA Fine Arts Merit Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen or transfer students accepted unconditionally by UNA (by February 1st) with a GPA of at least 2.75. An audition/interview is required. |
Application Process and Requirements Applications will be considered on the basis of academic merit, talent, character and demonstrated achievement in or more areas of theatre. Students may be incoming freshman or transferring from another institution. All applicants must enroll as full-time students majoring in Communications Arts with an emphasis in Theatre. All scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability.

Auditions and Portfolio Requirements Actors should be ready to present two contrasting monologues (not exceed 5 minutes total) along with an acting resume. Designers and technicians should be ready to present visual representations of their work (actual designs, photographs or a complete portfolio) as a part of their interview process. The audition serves as an opportunity for a student to display his or her ability, meet the faculty and have questions answered concerning the Department of Communications and Theatre and other aspects of being a theatre student UNA. Campus tours are also available. |
