No. Although there is a percentage of music majors, approximately 60% of the band does not major in music. |

How much time is spent in rehearsal? |

The band rehearses approximately one hour each school day. During the fall semester, the marching band rehearses on Saturday mornings prior to performances as a part of the regular rehearsal schedule. |

In what types of performances will the band participate? |
| A: |
The marching band performs at all home games, selected away games, marching exhibitions, parades, and the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. The concert band presents concerts performing contemporary and traditional band literature for large audiences. There are also opportunities to perform in the jazz band, jazz combo, pep band, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble, and woodwind ensemble. |

Does a band member receive academic credit? |

Yes. The University of North Alabama awards academic credit to members of all performing organizations. These organizations include: marching band, concert band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, brass ensemble, and woodwind ensemble. These credit hours may be used as elective credits or as partial fulfillment of a degreeprogram. |

Are band scholarships available to an incoming Freshman? |

Yes. Every member of the band, regardless of academic major, may receive a scholarship up to $1200 per semester (plus out-of-state fees waived, when applicable). These scholarships are renewable annually and may be retained for the duration of one's college career. |

How does one apply for a band scholarship? |
| A: |
The applicant should contact the Director of Bands to apply for a band scholarship. The Director will confirm a mutually agreeable time for the applicant to audition. Scholarship awards are based on the results of the audition, and the amount of the scholarship is determined by the proficiency of the applicant. |

What are the audition requirements? |

The audition requirements are three chromatically adjacent major scales with arpeggios, a chromatic scale, prepared
piece of the applicant's choice, and sight reading. |
