UNA GRADUATES 589, PRESENTS KELLER KEY AWARD TO CANIDA
FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama awarded degrees to 589 graduates at its spring commencement ceremony May 10 in Flowers Hall. One hundred eighty-nine graduate degrees and 400 undergraduate degrees were conferred.
The university also presented the Keller Key Award to Nicolas Trey Canida, of Spruce Pine. Canida graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in professional writing.
The Keller Key Award is presented to the student or students with the highest grade-point average from the graduating senior class. Canida held a 4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale.
UNA hosted P. Steven Ainsley as guest speaker for the spring 2008 commencement. Ainsley, currently publisher of the Boston Globe, was publisher of The TimesDaily in Florence for nearly seven years. He has also served as publisher for several other New York Times Company-owned newspapers since 1982.
